3rd Year's a Charm
This is the beginning of our 3rd year as an organized team and the growth that I have seen in the young ladies in this program has been miraculous. This volleyball team will continue to be built on respect, integrity, loyalty and teamwork. We are not just a team but a family. It is really important that all players, who play for me, are there for their teammates at all times. I expect 100% commitment on the court and 100% commitment in the classroom.
I have been playing volleyball since I was 12 years old, and I have been coaching volleyball for almost 20 years. I was very lucky to have played college volleyball for Montana State University in Billings, Montana. In 1995, I got my first varsity position in the small town of Columbus, Montana. That first year we were league champions. We won the district tournament. We won the divisional tournament, and we ended up playing for the state championship. I was named Coach of the Year and was also chosen as Head Coach for the Montana West All-Star Volleyball Team. From Montana, my wife, Mardi, my two sons, Taylor and Riley, and I moved to Cathedral City. I took over the program at Cathedral City High School in 1999. I coached there from 1999 to 2005. During that time we were league champs in 2000, 2001 and 2003. In 2002 and 2004, we finished second place in league. I was named Coach of the Year twice. I took some time off from coaching from 2006 to 2011 to support my two boys in their athletic aspirations. In 2011, I got back into coaching with Palm Desert Volleyball Club, where I coached a very successful 18's team. For the last 3 years I have coached and been the director of Club West- Palm Springs. I have never been more excited to start a volleyball season at Rancho Mirage High School.
